Library and Study Centre
The Library is staffed with a full time librarian, Mrs Davies and a team of Yr. 13 Library Monitors at break and lunch time.
The library is open Monday – Friday from 8.45 – 4.45 and only closes for 15 minutes at the start of lunch.
The Library has a collection of 7,000 items of Fiction, Non Fiction and DVDs that can be borrowed for 2 weeks at a time as well as computers and eReader.
Our Eclipse Library Management System is modern software that pupils can use to search for books and websites relevant to their subjects.

Yr. 8 pupils are introduced to Accelerated reader to encourage Reading for pleasure and a reward system is in place for pupils.

Yr. 9 and 10 take part in a Reading Olympics scheme and receive certificates of achievement for reading.

Pupils can use the library at break, lunch and after school for homework and research.
Pupils are encouraged to take part in a senior reading scheme #mustreadsdcp.
Yr. 11 pupils help to look after the library when Yr. 13 are on study leave.
Senior pupils are timetabled to study in the Library. These are periods of silent study to encourage independent learning and research.
Pupils are shown how to use referencing and avoid plagiarism in preparation for third level education.
There is a restricted issue section where books have been set aside by members of staff for their A-level classes to use.
The careers room has all the latest resources and prospectuses for university in the UK and Ireland and also the local colleges.
