Guys And Dolls returns to the Dominican Stage after 32 years!
After a break of more than thirty years ,”Guys and Dolls” finally makes its return to Dominican College in late November 2015.
With a talented cast and crew of more than 200 students currently working hard in rehearsals Dominican is proud to present its latest school musical which was chosen in honour of Mrs Rosaleen Corrigan who passed away earlier this year. Staff and students have been rehearsing busily since early September under the experienced skills of Mrs Kathy Walsh the school’s Head of Drama and Mr Terry Cloughley, Head of Music. The challenge of choreographing the dance sequences for Guys and Dolls has been undertaken by Ms Rosemary O’Connor.
Mrs Walsh explained, “Rosaleen Corrigan was an inspirational Head of Drama who has left a proud legacy and tradition within this school- a legacy reflected in a highly respected Drama Department and a school which continues to cherish and nurture the musical and dramatic talents of its pupils. This truly is a whole school enterprise which harnesses the skills of staff not only in directing and choreographing but also working in set design, set construction costume and make up. Taking part in a school show of this magnitude develops confidence in our pupils, builds problem solving skills and collaborative skills as everyone works towards a goal. Pupils and staff are working together to develop a sense of achievement as a school”
The Thursday night production will be a special gala evening with proceeds being donated to the NI Chest Heart and Stroke charity as chosen by Rosaleen’s family.
