DCP Staff invited to Civic Reception

Dominican Staff delighted to receive special invitation from our Mayor as part of our Centenary celebrations.

On Thursday 30th March the Dominican staff were delighted to be invited to a civic reception in the Causeway Coast and Glens Council Offices by The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Maura Hickey . The Mayor hosted the staff to highlight the links between the school and the local area in this its centenary year.

Welcoming staff to the reception, the mayor said that she was: “very delighted that you have come here today and that we can celebrate with you during this your centenary year”. She paid tribute to the role of the school within the local community, describing Dominican College as: “a microcosm of how I would like Northern Ireland to be”, the Mayor reflected on the experiences of her daughters Laoise and Catherine who attended the school concluding that “Dominican College is everything that you would want from a school”.

Alderman Hickey spoke warmly of the wonderful ethos of the school and described her pride in watching how the school has grown “organically” during recent years and as it prepares to enter its second century. She spoke glowingly of the positive memories that all past pupils of the school share and wished the school every success in its year-long centenary celebrations.

The Dominican College staff would like to take this opportunity to thank our Mayor for her wonderful hospitality and generosity in inviting us to her parlour and for her continued support of the school.
